Pianist Daniel Beal plays holiday tunes in the SPR performance studio

Teenage pianist Daniel Beal performs pop, traditional and classical holiday tunes

The young pianist Daniel Beal entered the Spokane Public Radio performance space with a selection of holiday tunes to round out a week of seasonal mini-concerts featuring area musicians.

Beal is no stranger to the SPR performance space. He's been in before in conjunction with MusicFest and the Lilac Festival.

The first part of his setlist included traditional songs and medleys like "Joy to the World" and "Angels We Have Heard on High" as well as popular songs such as "The Christmas Waltz" and "The Gift."

The second part was more classically inspired and featured selections from The Nutcracker plus a Haydnesque "Carol of the Bells." The set closed with a brisk rendition of "Sleigh Ride."
