Spokane-based pianist highlights Bach and Beethoven pieces from her upcoming recital

Pianist YunJoung Park opened with a live performance of Bach's French Suite No. 5 in the SPR performance space before joining E.J. Iannelli in the studio to talk about her solo recital this weekend.

In addition to the selection from Bach's French Suites, Park will be playing works by Chopin (Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52, Études, Op. 25), Scriabin (Preludes Op. 11) and Beethoven (Sonata No. 21 in C major, Op. 53 "Waldstein").

During the interview, she explained that she chose these particular works in part to challenge herself but also to create a varied emotional and stylistic palette.

Her recital takes place at 11am on Saturday, March 18 at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Spokane Valley. Contact information for the venue is on the gallery’s website.

Park closed this episode of From the Studio with a live performance of the first movement of Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata.
