Mery Smith reads her original poem "Letters to your Late Brother"

Mery Smith is a Spokane poet and storyteller. She was selected as Spokane’s fifth Poet Laureate in 2024. Her aim is to facilitate workshops in schools and communities while writing in places we don't normally imagine poetry coming from. She’s been featured in the anthologies “Listen To Your Mother” and “Pivot Spokane,” and is the author of one chapbook, “Crumbs.”
