Stephanie Painter is a part-time rancher from Wyoming with a BFA and MFA from the University of Wyoming in visual art and an MFA from Vermont College in poetry.
“I first met Nance Van Winckel in about 1998 at Ghost Ranch, where she was leading a poetry workshop. We met again in Montpelier, Vermont, where she taught fiction in the Vermont College MFA program. I was studying poetry. She was the friend who led me on long walks around Montpelier and talked about her writing and my writing. She helped me see my way through many very rough drafts into poems good enough for publication (and graduation).”
