About the shows:
The Nutcracker Ballet and the Spokane Symphony celebrate 41 years of holiday magic at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox this year. Many families put The Nutcracker on their holiday “must do” list. It’s the story of young Clara who receives a toy nutcracker during a Christmas party. That night, the toy comes to life in Clara’s dream, and many adventures follow. The Fox Theater is decked out in Christmas finery, adding to the festive atmosphere. Spokane Symphony Resident Conductor Morihiko Nakahara will conduct the orchestra for this year’s performances. The ballet dancers of the critically acclaimed State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara, California are making their ninth annual visit to Spokane for five performances of The Nutcracker from Thursday, December 5 through Sunday, December 8 with both matinee and evening shows.
The Nutcracker Ballet with the Spokane Symphony and State Street Ballet:
- Thursday, December 5 at 7:30 pm (Drawing ticket night!)
- Friday, December 6 at 7:30 pm
- Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm
- Sunday, December 8 at 2:00 pm

Mark O'Connor's An Appalachian Christmas
Grammy-winning composer and fiddler Mark O’Connor has created several arrangements of Christmas classics and fashions a wondrous mixture of both instrumental and vocal music in bluegrass and other American music genres. Concertgoers are treated to fresh takes on traditional songs with a few original compositions included. His renditions are playful and joyous, but can be strikingly earnest too.
The touring musicians with Mark O’Connor include his wife Maggie O’Connor, son Forrest O’Connor, and daughter-in-law Kate Lee O’Connor of the newly Grammy-winning Mark O’Connor Band.
