A Deep Dive Into Deep Time: Archaeology Underwater

Dr. Ashley Lemke, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee

Some ancient, human-occupied landscapes now lie underwater. Coastal lands that were dry at the end of the last Ice Age, supported life for plants, animals and humans for thousands ofyears. This talk will focus on 9,000-year-old submerged sites in the North American Great Lakes. Learn about these ancient sites, the role they play in the global archaeological record and whatunique data they have about the past.
