Hope for Creation Conference: Care for Water
Hosted by St. John's Cathedral, in partnership with the Whitworth Office on Church Engagement and The Fig Tree, this conference is designed to share a vision of hope for creation, showcase local caretakers of land, water and air, and renew Spokane’s leadership on environmental care which is a legacy of Expo ’74.
Conference Schedule:
8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
> Oral Presentations
Topics include: care for water upstream, through the city, and downstream from Spokane; wetlands, beaver dams, Lake Coeur d’Alene, Spokane Aquifer, city conservation, Rights of the River, citizen relationships to water, Columbia River Treaty, Snake River dams, and Environmental Stewardship at EXPO+50.
1:30 – 4:30 PM
> Discussion Groups (inside)
Topics include: the Saltese flats, vision of the future of the Spokane River, tech for water management, Biochar water purification, backyard water conservation, and how faith means stewardship (interfaith panel)
> Street Fair (outside)
With exhibits by local groups actively working on Environmental Stewardship, live music, and food trucks.
4:30 – 6 PM
> Annual Earth Day Vigil
Sponsored by Faith Leaders and Leaders of Conscience. Will conclude the event.
