"Now You Has Jazz" with Zonky Jazz Band at Hamilton Studio

"Now You Has Jazz" with Zonky Jazz Band at Hamilton Studio

Join us for a very special Hot Jazz Sunday Night - MATINEE - when Zonky Jazz Band performs our unique documentary concert, live music experience, "Now You Has Jazz". This event is part documentary film, and part live music, and tells the story of local jazz icons, Bing Crosby, Mildred Bailey, and Al Rinker who grew up in and around Spokane.

The documentary film vignettes were locally produced and feature interviews with Bing's nephew, Howard Crosby, plus Chad Hamill and Julia Keefe, as well as local historians William Stimson, Stephanie Plowman, and Jim Price, and featured narration by Julia Rinker, Al Rinker's daughter. The documentary clips also feature archival sound and photography from the Crosby and Rinker families.

Between short film vignettes, Zonky Jazz Band will perform live, showcasing songs performed and recorded, and in some cases written, by Bing Crosby, Mildred Bailey, and Al Rinker.

Doors open at 2pm. Show from 2:30-4:30pm.

This is an all-ages event, but for those of legal age with ID, a bar with beer and wine is available. Hamilton Studio also has Charcuterie Boxes on offer at every Hot Jazz Sunday Night.
