Our Stories: Black Families in Spokane
Join us at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (the MAC) on June 28th, 11am-4pm, for Our Stories: Black Families in Spokane. This celebration of Spokane’s Black community and heritage features a full day of activities:
• DJ Rosethrow spinning Motown and old-school rap on the museum plaza
• Food trucks
• A basketball shootaround
• Living descendants of Spokane Black pioneers and dignitaries sharing memories and memorabilia from their families, and African American-owned businesses and organizations
• Documentaries on Black persons from Spokane’s past and films produced by New Developed Nations, the Martin Luther King Jr. Family Outreach Center, Carl Maxey Center, and NAACP
• All-day drop-in artmaking in the museum’s Create Space
• Open admission to the museum’s exhibitions—Driving the American Dream: 1970s Car Design; It Happened Here: Expo ’74 Fifty Years After; 1924: Sovereignty, Leadership, and the Indian Citizenship Act; and the historic Campbell House.
