Red Cross: Training to volunteer in disaster shelters

Red Cross: Training to volunteer in disaster shelters
Become a Disaster Shelter Volunteer
With wildfire season starting earlier, lasting longer and spreading farther, more people are relying on the Red Cross for help. The need for compassionate volunteers in our community has never been greater.
Right now, the Red Cross has an urgent need to train new SHELTER volunteers.
These individuals help set-up, break down and support day-to-day activities within a shelter.
Ideal volunteers enjoy working as part of a team, have good communication skills and care about supporting clients' needs. Shelter volunteers create a safe, welcoming environment for people displaced by disasters—whether it’s greeting clients, assisting with registration, serving meals, or providing information and support.
No experience needed! Free training (lunch included) will be provided at this "Shelter Worker Boot Camp" that will prepare you to start supporting local disaster activity right away. Participants must be 18+. Walk-ins welcome, no registration required.
We are the American Red Cross. Sleeves up. Hearts open. All in.
