Spokane Civic Theatre Youth Playwrights Workshop

Spokane Civic Theatre Youth Playwrights Workshop

Bryan Harnetiaux and Jean Hardie will instruct area youth on how to write short plays. Young writers are encouraged to submit their plays for consideration for the Playwrights' Forum Festival.

In this hour-long workshop, renowned Spokane playwright Bryan Harnetiaux and friends will meet with area youth and instruct them on how to write a ten-minute play. Youth will experience a table-read of a play, examine the difference between writing for film versus theatre, and learn about writing a theatrical masterpiece all their own.

In 2024, Spokane Civic Theatre will proudly present its celebrated Playwrights’ Forum Festival, which, since 1983, has showcased new one-acts by playwrights from across the region. Youth in elementary school through college are encouraged to submit their short plays through the Playwrights' Forum Festival website, [link here]. This workshop will help prepare youth to write and submit their original work.

You can learn more about the Playwrights' Forum Festival on their website.
