A judge ruled that Spokane City Council Candidate Tyler LeMasters' name will not be allowed to appear on the November ballot.
LeMasters is a realtor and former aide to Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers. He was running against Betsy Wilkerson, a city councilwoman who was appointed to represent the South Spokane City Council District in 2019.
A petition was filed against him last week by Paul Dillon, a spokesman for Planned Parenthood, and another resident of that district. They argued LeMasters didn’t meet the residency requirements under the city charter to represent his district, pointing to property and voting records, as well as one of LeMasters’ old posts on social media.
LeMasters argued he met the state’s requirements to represent he district.
A judge sided with Dillon and she ordered the county auditor to not print LeMasters' name on the November ballot.
