Linda Parman & Steve Simmons will be performing for a broadcast on Friday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. You can listen to the broadcast safe at home, on the road, or wherever you need to be on KPBX 91.1, or stream it online. Both musicians have been performing in Spokane for years solo and in a variety of ensembles and are veterans of previous Kids’ Concerts. The concert will take us on a journey through classic summer songs. Songs may include "Bicycle Built for Two," "In The Good Old Summertime," "Shine on Harvest Moon," "By The Beautiful Sea," novelty songs, and camp sing-a-longs. The concert may include a brief interview with Verne Windham and is designed to present classic songs and engage listeners of all ages with opportunities to sing along at home.

About the perfomers:
Linda Parman’s first memory of singing in public is when she was four years old, and part of a Christmas pageant at my church. Years later at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, she was in the Chapel Choir, College Choir, and played tenor sax in the Wind Ensemble. The summer before her senior year she traveled with the College Choir performing concerts in most of the countries of South America. Parman graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, with a major in voice and minor in saxophone. While a student at Wittenberg she first learned to play the guitar, and joined a little group of Folk Singers. Since arriving in Spokane in February of 1974, Linda Parman has had opportunities to work solo and to play with many local musicians and has enjoyed exploring a wide variety of music genres including Folk music, Old Time Traditional, Irish/Celtic, Scandinavian, Bluegrass, "Tin Pan Alley," Jazz and Swing. She played string bass in a Spokane Civic Theater production of "The Robber Bridegroom," played bass banjo with "The New Criterion Banjo Orchestra," sang some Russian folk songs for a Kendall Feeney presentation of Stravinsky music, and performed solo and with small combos like Canned Music for events including Spokane Public Radio, the Spokane Fall Folk Festival, and the Tumbleweed Music Festival. Most recently, Parman work with Brad Keeler presenting concerts for the Spokane County Library District concert series' featuring historical music related to the Depression Era, the Klondike Gold Rush, World War I and Folk Revival of the 1960's. Currently, Linda primarily performs solo gigs and currently has lots of time to improve her skills playing ukulele, mandolin, irish whistle, flute, and guitar.
Steve Simmons started playing guitar in the 6th grade and perfected his craft performing for children during the 80’s and 90’s where he introduced them to as many music genres as he could. This created a wide repertoire of music from various countries and time periods, also giving him the title of “Music Historian”. Steve also produced and hosted “On the Front Porch” with Steve Simmons, a musical television show, and still occasionally plays with the Front Porch trio.
