Sam Manno reads from "Goat Song" by Brad Kessler

This week Sam Manno shares poems on Pastoralism. Sam was born in Chicago in 1960 and moved in 1984 to Montana, where has has found peace as part of a herd of dairy goats. He is an artist, farmer, pastoralist, and host and producer of children's programming on Montana Public Radio.

Today he reads from Brad Kessler's book, "Goat Song: A Seasonal Life, a Short History of Herding and the Art of Making Cheese," released in 2009. Kessler, who lives in Vermont, is an award-winning author of books for children and adults.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
