Two Spokane-based health organizations announced leadership changes Tuesday.
The Spokane Regional Health District announced the hiring of Amelia Clark as the organization’s new administrative officer.
Clark comes from Muncie, Indiana, where she’s a health care consultant. She will start on September 16 and replace Torney Smith, who retired in January.
Clark will serve as the district’s CEO and work alongside the district’s health officer, Dr. Bob Lutz.
In Muncie, Clark worked in public health and for nonprofit companies. She developed a health education institute for company in Muncie and directed her county’s Maternal Fetal Task Force.
The other leadership change is a departure. The Empire Health Foundation announced its founding president, Antony Chiang, will leave for Asheville, North Carolina. He’ll take over as CEO of Dogwood Health Trust, a foundation aimed at improving the health of people in western North Carolina.
Chiang helped to start the private Empire Health Foundation, which was created in 2008 as a condition of the sale of Deaconess and Valley Hospitals by the non-profit Empire Health Services to a for-profit company.
Jeffrey Bell, a member of the foundation’s board, will take over as interim president while the organization searches for a new leader.
