A Tribute to Pianist & Teacher Margaret Saunders Ott

The Piano Bench on 7/21/2020 celebrates the centennial of the birth of pianist and teacher Margaret Saunders Ott.

The program features five of her former students from across the country playing and remembering her legacy. Performers include Jody Graves, Greg Presley, Stephen Drury, Philip Aaberg, and Scott Rednour. Watch videos of all five performances here.

A native of Mt. Hope, a tiny town south of Spokane, Margaret Saunders Ott studied in California and New York with major musical figures of our time. She returned to Spokane to become a significant piano teacher in our area as well as at Whitworth (then) College. She was recognized as the National Teacher of the Year by the Music Teachers National Association.
