UPDATE: North Idaho Reports Two More Confirmed Coronavirus Cases

Idaho Public Television

UPDATE: Health officials in north Idaho says two more confirmed cases of the coronavirus have been reported. Both are in Kootenai County.

The Panhandle Health District says one is a man who is younger than 30. He put himself in isolation after returning from travel. He is experiencing mild symptoms. The second person is a woman in her 60s. She is also recovering at home from mild symptoms.

The first confirmed case in north Idaho was announced on Thursday. He is a man in his 60s, also resting at home with mild symptoms.

The two new cases bring Idaho's confirmed coronavirus total to 25. Sixteen of those are Blaine County, in south central Idaho. Governor Brad Little addressed that during a news conference Thursday afternoon.

Brad Little: “This is the first time in Idaho that a person contracted the virus from an unknown source in their community. Up until now, all confirmed cases were the result of travel to an area outside of the state or from close contact with someone who contracted the virus through travel.”

Little says the state will soon issue an isolation order for that county. It means certain public places will be closed, but grocery stores and health care facilities will remain open.

The state of Idaho has not yet issued a statewide order closing schools, though many local districts have shut their doors.
