From the Studio: Chorale Coeur d'Alene

Chorale Coeur d'Alene

A recorded chorus of voices heralded the arrival of Stan McDaniel, conductor and Chorale Coeur d’Alene Artistic Director, who came in to the station this morning to discuss “Made in the USA.” This upcoming concert celebrates the 100th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein’s birth, featuring some of his more well-known songs along with music from three other famous 20th century American composers– Aaron Copland, Randall Thompson, and Morten Lauridsen.

There will be two performances at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene at 7 PM November 9 and 2 PM November 10, with one more at First Presbyterian Church in Spokane at 2 PM November 17.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
