A Conversation with Artist Larry Ellingson

Larry Ellingson is a visual artist, musician, and composer whose collaboration with painter and printmaker Timothy C. Ely is currently on display at the Kolva-Sullivan Gallery in downtown Spokane (115 South Adams Street). The show is based on Ely’s original “graphic scores,” abstract drawings which Ellingson used as the basis for musical compositions representing each piece.

On Saturdays, Dec. 22nd 29th, Ellingson will be on site at the Kolva-Sullivan Gallery from noon to 3 p.m. Both Ellingson’s objects and Ely’s prints of the original drawings will be on exhibit and for sale.  The CD booklet will be available for pre-ordering.  Throughout the evening Ellingson will playback recordings of the six Scores: Oort, Axis, A.M.U., Embryo, Orion and Trace.

Chris Maccini previously worked at SPR as Morning Edition host and producing arts and special programming such as The Bookshelf, Poetry Moment, Northwest Arts Review, special features and more.
