Lisa Conger Reads “Review of Questions” by Hannah Winter
For 20 years, Lisa Conger has taught poetry and creative writing to senior citizens through the ACT 2 program of SFCC. She has an MA in psychology from Antioch University-Seattle, with a Certificate in Creative Arts Therapy. She has been an exhibiting papier mache artist and published poet.
Lisa is a member of the National Association for Poetry Therapy from whom she received a grant to co-facilitate a poetry group at Sacred Heart Hospital for professional caregivers. The grant ran out in 2004, but the “Write from the Heart” group continued to meet until just recently because of the pandemic crisis. From 2010-2014, along with Dr. Bill Greene, she co-facilitated a course for first year medical students, called, “Take Two Poems & Call Me in the Morning” - a course in medical humanities and reflective writing. The purpose of the course was to help the physicians in training maintain their empathy and to develop tools for self-care and prevent burnout. This was through the WWAMI program when it was co-sponsored by the U of Washington and WSU.
Lisa believes in the power of words for healing, growth, inspiration, and the commemoration of what we hold dear.
