A rally in Spokane to show support for the family of Michael Brown drew about 200 people to the streets Tuesday night. Brown was the Ferguson, Missouri teenager shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson.
Justin Pimsanguan of the group Don't Shoot Incorporated says the protest served to send a message that police need to be held accountable for their actions.
Pimsanguan: "We need to look at how officers are trained, because these officers are being trained to kill. They're getting this war zone training and they're exercising it in our communities. Officers are using lethal force when there are non-lethal alternatives."
He says the actions in Ferguson hit a sympathetic nerve for some in Spokane, where the death of a Spokane man at the hands of police prompted the creation of a Use of Force Commission.
The rally in Spokane was a peaceful march from Spokane City Hall to the bus plaza.
