The new Spokane Resource Center officially opened its doors Monday.
The center brings a number of different social services under one roof, to offer one-stop shopping for those in need.
The Resource Center is one of several “EnVision Centers” being opened around the country, as a vision of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD spokesman Jeffrey McMorris explains.
“Secretary Carson put out a goal to open EnVision centers around the country, and the Spokane community had already had conversations around that same concept. And when they saw the EnVision center concept coming out, they applied for the demonstration program, one of 17 across the country. And at the federal level we're working to bring together federal partners to bring additional resources to communities that have the EnVision centers,” said McMorris.
Resource Center site manager Jen Morris outlines some of the services people can access at the center.
“Center for Justice is here to do legal and some reentry. We have services for veterans, also services for SSDI applicants. SNAP is here for energy assistance and assessments,” she said.
Some of the other services offered include health and wellness checks through CHAS, counseling, and various education programs.
The center will be open weekdays from 9 to 5. It is located at 130 South Arthur.
