Spokane Health Officer: Lower Covid Trend Encouraging, But Not Ready For Level Three

Spokane COVID Response

Another promising Covid report today [Friday] from Spokane County public health officials.

The health district reported 46 new confirmed infections, the second lowest mark in a week when the highest count was 62.

Health officials here and at the state level credit more people following the Covid guidelines for the lower infection levels.

The district also reported one more death, bringing the total number of fatalities to 95, and two new hospitalizations. Health Officer Bob Lutz is encouraged the number of hospital admissions, Spokane plus Coeur d’Alene, has leveled off.

“We, last week, two weeks ago, were in the hundred-plus range. Today we’re in the 90 range. So, it’s not a big difference, but it’s a difference, which is still notable," he said.

He says, even though the trends have been positive for a few weeks, that the county is not yet ready to think about advancing to phase three in the state protocol.
