Spokane County officials are reminding restaurants and hotels they have financial aid available, but companies must apply by the end of the day Monday.
The Spokane County commissioners recently set aside $10 million in federal pandemic CARES Act money to help hospitality companies stay afloat. That is especially timely now that Governor Jay Inslee is expected to announce new restrictions that affect those businesses. Those restrictions include a temporary end to indoor restaurant and bar service and 25% occupancy limits for all retail establishments.
Trade officials in the hospitality industry say that will force many of their clients who have been limping through the pandemic to finally shut down for good.
Cindy Wendle from Spokane County says the CARES Act money will provide grants of up to $20,000. The application process began nearly two weeks ago and the deadline is 5 pm Monday.
She says businessowners can begin the process at Spokane Hospitality Grant dot com, where they’ll learn about the steps they’ll need to follow, including the documentation required.
Wendle hopes grants will begin being distributed by the first week of December.
