Idaho Governor Brad Little says the Gem State will soon drop most of the restrictions related to the Covid vaccine.
“I am glad to announce today that starting Monday, April 5, all Idahoans, regardless of their age, medical condition or occupation will be able to make an appointment to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. Also, starting Monday, March 29, any Idahoan with at least one medical condition will be able to access the Covid-19 vaccine," the governor said.Those opening dates apply to people who are 16 and older.
After the governor’s announcement, the Panhandle Health District said it will make the shots available to everyone immediately. People are asked to schedule through their health providers. The district’s health services administrator, Don Duffy, says the health district has seen a decline in demand for shots, so it has there should be enough supply to take on new customers.
Little says more than 90,000 residents have made vaccine appointments at the state’s online preregistration site so far this month. That web portal is at covid vaccine dot Idaho dot gov.
Little says nearly 390,000 Idahoans have received at least one shot, including two-thirds of people 65 and older and almost one-third of those between 55 and 64 years of age.
