Several INW Cities Recorded Record High Temps Last Week

Courtesy of National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has confirmed that many Inland Northwest cities and towns tied or broke all-time high temperature records week. The agency issued what it calls a “record event report” Tuesday evening.

The list of cities and towns in eastern and central Washington and north Idaho breaking records is extensive.

They include several towns in northeastern Washington: Chewelah, Republic, Northport, near the Canadian border. It was 113 there. Boundary Dam in Pend Oreille County recorded 111. In Lincoln County, Davenport, Wilbur and Odessa all broke records, as did Wenatchee, Chelan, Mazama and Lind in central Washington.

In northern Idaho, records were broken in Sandpoint, 106 degrees, Bonners Ferry, 108, and Priest River. To the south of Spokane, Rosalia and Lacrosse broke records, Lacrosse at 113.

Spokane’s official high at the airport on June 29 was 109, one degree higher than the previous mark. But it’s also worth noting that the weather service office near the airport also recorded a record, 108, even though it’s not considered Spokane’s official high temperature.
