Idaho income tax rebates to be available soon

Residents who paid state tax in 2020 and their dependents will collect at least $75.

The payments were authorized by the legislature earlier this year.

Idaho’s state tax agency is preparing to mail income tax rebate checks that were authorized by state legislators earlier this year.

“The rebates automatically go to people who were full-year Idaho residents for 2020 and 2021 and who filed income tax returns for those years. This includes those who filed grocery tax refund returns," said Renee Eymann, a spokeswoman for the Idaho State Tax Commission.

She says each person who filed returns plus their dependents will receive either $75 or 12% of the amount of state tax they paid in 2020, whichever is greater.

The sooner you file this year’s return, the sooner you’ll get your refund. You can arrange to have the sum filed in a bank account via direct deposit or you can have a check mailed to you. Or you can donate your refund to state funds for public schools, transportation or parks and recreation.

You can find out more about the refunds at the tax commission’s website.
