This week's episode of the Thursday Arts (P)review — where the "p" is parenthetical because we look both forward and back — includes the following:
- The nationally touring production of Dear Evan Hansen runs at Spokane's First Interstate Center for the Arts from March 14 to 19. John Hemphill, who plays Larry Murphy, dialed in to talk about the musical's characters, songs and message. Tickets and showtimes are at the Best of Broadway website.
- Local publisher Latah Books has already released upwards of 20 books across multiple genres and is preparing to publish more this year. Founder Jon Gosch revisits some existing Latah Books titles and previews a few new ones.
- Author Stephanie Clifford discusses her new novel The Farewell Tour. The book, out this week on a HarperCollins imprint, recounts a female country singer's journey from a farm in Walla Walla to the honky tonk scene of Tacoma and on to Nashville — and back again.
The full interview with Stephanie touched on additional themes, characters and background. That's available separately below.
