Mar. 23, 2023: Art as kindness, 33 Artists Market, Artemidorus

Who's on TA(P)? Tiffiny Santos, Gwyn Pevonka, Kris Lahd, Durga McBroom

This week's episode of the Thursday Arts (P)review — where the "p" is parenthetical because we look both forward and back — features the following:

  • Tiffiny Santos, a third-grade teacher at Westview Elementary who champions art as an act of kindness. Her students have artwork on display at Elliotts – an Urban Kitchen until the end of the month. Proceeds will go to Sacred Heart Children's Hospital.
  • Mixed-media artist Gwyn Pevonka, who launched the 33 Artists Market not long after arriving in Spokane from Knoxville, Tennessee. The market's second official event, and its first to be held at the Wonder Building, takes place this Saturday (Mar. 25).
  • Durga McBroom and Kris Lahd of Artemidorus, a Pink Floyd tribute band that plays The Bing Crosby Theater tonight (Mar. 23). This interview excerpt includes their thoughts on Pink Floyd's music and an in-studio performance of "Wish You Were Here."

The full From the Studio interview with the Artemidorus members, which also included pianist and vocalist Elaine Eagle, is available here along with a video of their performance.

The Thursday Arts (P)review airs every Thursday at 12pm on KPBX with a roundup of arts-related news and information from across the Inland Northwest.
