Apr. 6, 2023: Of Least Concern, This Is Where You Live, classical conductors

Who's on TA(P) this week? Artist Sheila Evans, expert and student conductors, songwriter Olivia Brownlee

This week's episode of the Thursday Arts (P)review — where the "p" is parenthetical because we look both forward and back — features the following:

  • Artist Sheila Evans. She explains why her new exhibition of oil paintings, titled Of Least Concern, is an effort to cultivate an appreciation for all bird species — even commonplace ones. Of Least Concern opens at the Kolva-Sullivan gallery tomorrow (Apr. 7).
  • Alexandria Symphony Music Director Jim Ross, Spokane Symphony Music Director James Lowe as well as student conductors Sally Yu and Stephen Swanson. Spokane Public Radio's Brandon Hollingsworth chatted with them about being "maestros" during a recent Conducting Workshop masterclass hosted by the Spokane Symphony.
  • Musician and songwriter Olivia Brownlee. The album release concert for her locally inspired, locally co-created album This Is Where You Live takes place tomorrow (Apr. 7) at the Spokane Central Library. Following the concert, songs on This Is Where You Live will release incrementally on SoundCloud and to Brownlee's Patreon supporters.

The Thursday Arts (P)review airs every Thursday at 12pm on KPBX with a roundup of arts-related news and information from across the Inland Northwest.
