The delayed Pledge Drive is running smoothly in the new Fire Station No. 3. Volunteers and Guests bringing their pledge in person are getting short impromptu tours of the new location. More importantly, the three stations are inching towards our goal.
For a limited time, every 20 new members, Spokane Public Radio receives $1000 from the Kongsgaard-Goldman Foundation in honor of the Methow Conservancy. Any time is a great time to become a member or renew your membership.
The funds we raise this week go towards day-to-day operations and program fees. Most of the shows we air - NPR News, On Point, Radiolab, Performance Today, Saturday entertainment shows, the list goes on and on - charge us for the rights to air them. Locally-produced shows have their own costs, from the electricity and equipment required to create and air them to the monthly mortgage, not to mention the board operators' salaries (which only buy so much canned soup and ramen noodles.)
