Homestead Wildfire Protection and Prevention
Homestead Wildfire Protection and Prevention
Responsible Growth * NE Washington and Selkirk Alliance for Science will once again be partnering in an upcoming event to raise public awareness on the critical need to prepare and protect our homes and families in the event of a catastrophic wildfire. This is the second in our series of wildfire programs.
“Homestead Wildfire Protection & Prevention” will be held on Saturday, March 07, 2026, at the Camas Center, 1821 North LeClerc Rd. #5 for 9:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M.
Fire protection and preparedness materials and presentation will be provided by the United States Forest Service, Washington Department of Natural Resources, Pend Oreille Conservation District, Public Utilities District #1, Newport Hospital & Health Services, South Pend Oreille Fire Rescue, Pend Oreille County Fire District #2, Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Emergency Management/911, Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Jason Earl Insurance, Girl Scout Troops, and others.
It has been three years since the Oregon Road wildfire swept near the Pend Oreille County lines burning over 10,817 acres of forest and timberland in neighboring Spokane County and destroying 100 homes before it was brought under control. Combustion, powerful winds and extremely dry conditions played a role in that devastating fire.
This program is being sponsored by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians through its' Charitable Fund and by the Inatai Foundation supporting communities throughout Washington State.
Whether you live in Pend Oreille County, Bonner County, Idaho, Spokane County or anywhere else, please join us Saturday, March 07, 2026, for an informative wildfire program.
There is no cost. Donations are always welcomed. Breakfast sweets, coffee, juice and full lunch will be served. Terrific door prizes.
