Spokane's Lunar New Year

Spokane’s 5th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration Rings in the Year of the Fire Horse

A Free, All-Ages Cultural Festival Celebrating Asian Cuisine, Community, and Tradition

Spokane, WA – Spokane’s United We Stand proudly announces the return of one of the region’s most anticipated cultural events: the 5th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration, taking place on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Spokane Convention Center, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This free, all-ages celebration invites the community to ring in the Year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of energy, passion, and renewal.

Celebrating five years of honoring the return of the Lunar New Year celebration in Spokane, the 2026 event places a special spotlight on Asian cuisine and food culture. Attendees will experience the rich diversity of Asian flavors through free food samples provided by local Asian-owned restaurants and specialty shops, offering a delicious way to explore cultural heritage and support local businesses.

In the spirit of prosperity and good fortune, Spokane’s United We Stand will also be distributing 5,000 traditional red envelopes (hóngbāo/Lì xì) throughout the event. These envelopes will contain over $20,000 worth of giveaways, generously donated by local businesses, including gift cards, merchandise, and exclusive prizes—making this one of the largest Lunar New Year giveaways in the region.

With more than 170 years of Asian heritage in the Inland Northwest, the celebration continues to honor the generations of Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities who have helped shape Spokane’s cultural fabric.

Highlights of the 5th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration include:

• Culinary Showcase: Free food samples from local restaurants and shops highlighting traditional and modern Asian cuisine.

• Red Envelope Giveaway: 5,000 red envelopes featuring over $20,000 in prizes from local businesses.

• Cultural Performances & Activities: Family-friendly entertainment and cultural displays throughout the day.

• Community Celebration: An inclusive event designed to educate, connect, and celebrate.

• Opening & Grand Finale: A vibrant Dragon Dance and Lion Dance performance to officially ring in the Lunar New Year.

• Free Admission for All: Open to the public at no cost. The first 500 attendees will receive a swag bag.

“Celebrating our fifth year is incredibly meaningful for us,” says Vina Cathcart, Co-founder of Spokane’s United We Stand. “This year’s focus on food allows people to experience culture in one of the most universal ways—through sharing a meal. We’re excited to bring the community together to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse with joy, flavor, and tradition.”

Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to attend this festive day of cultural discovery, culinary exploration, and community connection.
