Spokane County Fire Levies On Their Way To Approval

Spokane County Fire District 10

Two Spokane County fire levies that were on Tuesday's primary election ballot are passing.

In Spokane County Fire District 10, a 10-year levy focused on medical services is passing handily, 66-to-32%.

It would fund medical supplies and a medical officer, two firefighters, and one chief officer, as well as dispatch services.

The levy renews an existing tax , and would continue to authorize a 50-cent charge per $1,000 value of a home. For a $150,000 house the rate would be $75 a year.

In Fire District 2, a similar 6-year levy to fund emergency medical services is also being approved, by a 56-to-41% margin.

That levy will pay for more training for personnel and will be used to maintain existing medical equipment.

That levy will also renew an existing tax, $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed home value. That would be $225 per year for a $150,000 home.
