By turns colorful, elegant, grotesque and terrifying, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique takes the listener on a journey through the fevered mind of a young man chasing unrequited love. Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto is nobly heroic, and Jessie Montgomery’s string orchestra work, Starburst, explodes with energy and propulsion.
