Please join us at the this benefit for the Spokane Youth Symphony, a non-profit committed to providing musical education and orchestra performance opportunities for youth in the Inland Northwest. The Spokane Youth Symphony performs four times each season at The Fox Theater in Downtown Spokane, and provides financial assistance to students who would not otherwise be able to participate in our programs.This fun and family friendly spring tea features an online silent auction, a raffle, door prizes, live chamber music, gourmet teas, a buffet luncheon and decadent desserts.Tickets are $55; two tickets for $100; a table of six for $275.The raffle price is two seats in the President’s box for the May 30 (2 p.m.) performance of Back to the Future, at the First Interstate Center for the Arts, donated by WestCoast Entertainment. The Whitworth Community Concert Band and Community Chorale present their spring concert, American Songbook. Whitworth's community ensembles feature Whitworth students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members. The 60+ member Community band is under the direction of Kyla Fague and Richard Strauch, DMA. The 100+ Community Chorale is directed by Scott Davis.
Maurice Duruflé’s well-known Requiem, conducted by Dr. Geoffrey Boers, is performed by the choirs of Eastern Washington University, Dr. Kristina Ploegger-Hekmatpanah, conductor, and Gonzaga University, Dr. Meg Stohlmann, conductor. The concert is accompanied by the recently-refurbished Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ of St. John’s Cathedral. This festival program of sacred choral music celebrates the 80th season of the American Guild of Organists – Spokane Chapter.
This performance is appropriate for audiences of all ages.

The American Guild of Organists – Spokane Chapter presents its Organ Academy Recital. Each spring, the chapter offers low-cost organ lessons to students aged 12-18 in a program known as Organ Academy. The 16-week program culminates in a public recital performed by the young musicians highlighting their accomplishments and sharing their musical joy on St. John’s Cathedral Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ.
This year’s talented students are Gregory Buck, Thomas Dalton, Lincoln DeJong, Luke Fanning, Joseph Gaunt, Riley Jerdon, Karl Keener, Joel Korn, Anna Ries, Maria Ries, and Scarlett Thomsen. They are instructed by Henry Bauer, DMA; Helen Byrne, SPC; Marietta Hardy, Edward Hurd, and Joseph Schubert, PhD.

Masterworks 9 opens with a new commission from longtime Symphony friend Sydney Guillaume. Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini is a virtuosic masterpiece that fuses Russian heritage with American influences. After intermission, Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra showcases the orchestra in vivid colors and textures, capturing the resilience and adaptability of a composer who embraced his new world.
