The drop spindle is one of history's most valuable tools, yet one of the most humble. Spin wool and learn what different preparations can do to change the outcome of the yarn. Ramie plant fiber will also be demonstrated to help show the difference in spinning compared to animal fibers (and supplied to students who do not wish to use animal fibers). Learn S-twist, Z-twist, 2-ply, chain ply, and how to finish your yarn for your future project! Students will be supplied spindles that they can keep to practice with between classes and after class is done.
