Few things in life are more powerful, or painful, than the relationship between parent and child. On this week’s show, Dan Webster, Nathan Weinbender, and Mary Pat Treuthart discuss two films that explore such relationships. The first is Hamnet, writer-director Chloë Zhao’s imagining of the genesis of Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet. The second is Sentimental Value, Norwegian writer-director Joachim Trier’s study of a woman’s strained connection with her father.
