Step into the world of a Samurai and experience the armor, weaponry, and personal items that comprise "Samurai, Sunrise, Sunset." Dedicated to the powerful military class that ruled Japan for nearly 700 years, each item tells a story through its master craftsmanship and individual details. "Samurai, Sunrise, Sunset" is organized by Contemporanea Progetti, Italy in collaboration with the Museo Stibbert, Italy, in cooperation with the EDG, USA. The MAC is closed Mondays.
Through collage-like layers of detail, Washington-based artist Andrea Joyce Heimer reconstructs tangled memories of her upbringing in rural Montana. The artist combines autobiography, fantasy, and dark humor to explore themes of loneliness and belonging. *The MAC is closed Mondays.

This event showcases water media artists from the Inland Northwest and across the nation, and is juried by renowned artist Michael Holter. Awards in excess of $2000 will be awarded at the Reception being held on Sunday April 13, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Helen South Alexander Gallery (The MAC Annex). Admission to THIS gallery is free. We invite you to come and celebrate this talented group of water media artists and their diverse styles--it is an inspiring "friends and family" event. Exhibition is open during The MAC hours. In May 2025 the Liberty Gallery features new mixed media works by Tracy Poindexter-Canton in a show titled "Vignettes & Wanderings". This is an exciting new collection of mixed media works by Tracy inspired by poetry and prose. Through layers of color, texture and form, each piece reinterprets literary moments in a visual way. Viewers are invited to explore the connections between storytelling and art, offering a fresh perspective on popular narratives and familiar themes. The First Friday Reception to Meet the Artist is May 2 from 5-8:30pm.
The Art Spirit Gallery is thrilled to announce the opening reception for the May exhibition, ‘Real Vision’, featuring a collective of talented artists: Doug Fluckiger, Stephanie Frostad, Samuel Gentz, Wilson Ong, and Molly Sims. Join us for this vibrant celebration of creativity on Saturday, May 3rd, at 11 AM.
"Real Vision" is a captivating art exhibit that showcases the diverse talents of three innovative painters, a skilled woodworking artist, and an intriguing collection of large-scale graphite drawings. This collection invites visitors to experience the interplay among different artistic mediums, each highlighting the theme of perception and reality.
The exhibit features thought-provoking works from our talented artists. Doug Fluckiger aptly captures the beauty of the Idaho landscape through his photorealistic mountain drawings, while Stephanie Frostad employs narrative painting to explore themes of identity, memory, and connection. Wilson Ong demonstrates his range of artistry with oil paintings of tranquil landscapes, as well as the human figure, showcasing his mastery of spontaneity and precision. Molly Sims adds depth to the exhibition with her lifelike wildlife paintings that foster connection and empathy for the natural world. Alongside them, Samuel Gentz presents meticulously crafted wooden pieces that perfectly balance form and function, celebrating the whimsical nature of the world while highlighting time-honored joinery techniques.
"Real Vision" serves as a dynamic exploration of artistic expression, inviting attendees to engage with the multifaceted nature of vision and creativity and discover the beauty that arises from different artistic perspectives.
Please join us on First Friday, May 2nd, 5-9pm for the art show, "Stories That Might Be True". Experience Kim Long's vibrant paintings and Collista Krebs' whimsical clay art. Both artists showcase their love for beauty, the animal kingdom and the wonder of nature in imaginative works that spark joy and delight in the viewer. Gallery's regular hours are 11-5pm, Wednesday - Saturday. This show runs through May 30th.

On May 3rd Join us at the MAC to celebrate and learn about our Spokane Asian American community. Experience Spokane's rich history from the perspective of members of the Asian American families in Spokane. We will have activities for all, plus free admission to the museum!

"Grow Like a Tree" is a book for curious children of all ages, exploring the life cycle of trees and the role forest fires play in this process. Each illustration is a collage of paper cutouts painted with foraged ink on watercolor paper. The foraged materials include copper, sumac, horse chestnut, chokecherries, and a railroad spike. The items were found on the forest floor and throughout the urban jungle. The goal for the book & exhibition is to inspire everyone to dwell in wonder at the lifeworld around them.
