EAST GALLERY

Arcano: My work can be described as a alchemical process. It comes from emotion, from the unknown parts of me. There’s always a type of ideal that needs to be transmuted into images to fulfill its process of transformation. That’s why my work is always changing. I love to focus on different themes and aesthetics, to challenge myself, finding new perspectives through different medias and techniques - from traditional painting on canvas to illustration and comic books. My biggest influences are the subconscious images, the esoteric symbols, surrealism, pop culture, technology, internet culture, literature, mythology and the absurd. Creatures in surreal dreamlike landscapes, bodies that defy logic while interacting with the mysterious symbols of the world are my most recurrent themes.

Madeline McGinn McGinn is a Spokane based multidisciplinary artist working with large scale work focused around the human body. She received her BFA in printmaking and drawing from Eastern Washington University and her MFA in Print Media from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Through her work, she continues to push identity through public vs private, layering memory and understanding fraught relationships with the body. It’s a field guide to getting lost and finding the way back through the organized chaos.

WEST GALLERY - Louise Kodis, "The Paper Room"

For this exhibit, Louise will recreate her studio in the gallery. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from July 5th until July 26th, Louise will work in her gallery studio from 2:00 – 6:00 PM.

Stop on by Auntie's Bookstore to chat with the author and get a signed copy. This book signing is free and open to the public.

These artists explore the use of common, sometimes discarded materials to compose installations or create new objects in Found, an exhibition at Terrain Gallery. The work in this show considers that which we might not have previously noticed or have forgotten, and suggests that a deeper looking honors the physical world, quietly informing us of our place in it.

The HUB Sports Center will host a series of summer basketball tournaments for high school teams (high school teams must be affiliated with a high school and all players must be from the same high school). Teams will play a minimum of 5 games over the three day tournament. The initial games will be in a round robin format to determine seeding for the bracketed tournament.

When Marcia paints a landscape, her inspiration is not the scene, but rather the composition of the light and dark in the shapes, more of a design or pattern, than a painting of the actual scene. She tries to stay away from worrying about getting the colors just right or making sure the depth of field is correct. When painting an abstract, it is more about the colors and the way they can move the eye around the painting. How they interact with each other, warm against cool, intense next to muted or sharp edges relating to soft edges. With an abstract painting she tries to solicit an emotion using color.

The Liberty Gallery’s first group photography show puts the focus on the natural world in and around the Pacific Northwest. The viewpoints range from incredibly closeup detail to wide and panoramic; from underwater to the highest peaks; from relics of man’s presence to intimate portraits of the animals who call the landscape home.

The Liberty Gallery is closed on the first Friday in July because of the July 4th holiday. The reception for the artists will take place on the second Friday on July 11th from 5pm – 8:30pm.

Come learn these Japanese Buddhist dances on 7/6 & 7/13. They are easy to learn dances used at the annual Obon Festival on June 20th. All Ages – All Welcome. Led by certified Bon Odori teacher Izumi Pierce. Come join our community of Joy!

At All Day Improv, we will dive deeper into the art of improv. In addition to mastering the fundamentals, you'll discover various forms of improvisation, including different type of games, movement, and performance techniques. Students will have the opportunity to take four classes taught by various instructors, covering topics such as Improv Tools, Games, Stage, and Character. This improv camp is great for honing your improv skills and applying them on stage and in everyday life!
