Fern Spores is a femme-folk-rock band rooted in Olympia, WA. Gracefully flowing between vintage psych folk, garage rock, clever covers, and soulful Americana ballads they curate a truly original sound. Their songs are both anthems of empowerment and poignant reflections on life’s highs and lows. Angsty but uplifting, whimsical yet fierce, and as rock as it is roll. Drawing inspiration from musical legends like Janis Joplin, Susan Tedeschi, and The Runaways, they infuse vintage tones with modern perspective.
Fern Spores is an all woman band fronted by singer-songwriters Alyssa Nunke and Jade Kovats. Their full band arrangement includes Abbey Ryle (fiddle), and Katie Welch (drums). Their debut album, The Understory, released in 2024 and they are currently working on their second album, The Thicket. They’ve performed over 200 shows across 5 states since forming in 2023.

All are Welcome! Come the First and Third Tuesdays at 6pm. We are focusing on Sri Easwaran's form of passage meditation and his 8-Point Program for daily living, currently meeting at the Spokane Buddhist Temple. This form of meditation fits with any spiritual path. Passage meditation was designed specifically for the Western “monkey mind.” It is a very disciplined approach to slowing down and focusing. It is difficult, but very rewarding! We are currently studying Sri Easwaran’s book "Passage Meditation". Questions, call Lou Ann at (509) 590-3512
