The Spokane Folklore Society is currently accepting entries for Designs for the 30th annual Fall Folk Festival. The 2025 Festival, scheduled for November 8 and 9 at Spokane Community College, seeks graphic designs for its promotional materials, including posters, T-shirts, buttons, and other advertising.Anyone may enter a design. Performer Applications are now being accepted for the annual Free Fall Folk Festival taking place November 8 and 9 at Spokane Community College. 100 performers are selected to perform on 8 stages throughout the weekend featuring folk, ethnic, and traditional music and dance. The Spokane Folklore Society hosts its third Wednesday contra dance at the Woman's Club Hall on June 18 starting with a newcomer session at 7:15PM followed by a two hour dance beginning at 7:30PM. Emily Faulkner will teach and call easy to learn dances. Everyone is welcome. It is fun dancing to live fiddle music!It is easy too! General admission is $10 and SFS Member and Students $7. The Spokane Folklore Society hosts the annual Lady of the Lake contra dance at the Western Dance Center, 1901 N. Sullivan in the Spokane Valley on Saturday June 21st from 7PM to 10PM. The dance of the season features staff from the Lady of the Lake Music and Dance Week, occurring the following week. Caller Luke Donforth from Burlington, VT will teach and call easy to learn dances. The fabulous duo from Portland, OR,fiddler Betsy Branch and pianist Sue Songer play lively jigs and reels. All dances are taught. Everyone is well. Contras are easy to learn. Join in the fun. Friendly, accessible community dancing in the New England tradition, held every second Friday (except August). Live music, lively caller, all dances taught and called. No experience or partner needed; new dancers welcome and encouraged to arrive early for introductory session at 7. Please bring clean, smooth shoes, a water bottle, and your smile. $5 donation, $20 families.
