The Spokane Folklore Society hosts its 3rd Wednesday Contra Dance on September 17 at the Woman's Club Hall beginning at 7:15PM with a newcomers' session followed by a two hour dance starting at 7:30PM. Susan Dankovich will teach easy to learn dances backed by the band Dog Paw. Everyone is welcome to join in this community dance. No experience necessary. No partners required. General admission is $10 and SFS Members and students $7. Under 18, free.

Crooked Kilt, a well known local Celtic Band who brings Irish & Scottish music with a twist, will transport you to another place with their tight, 3-part harmonies, and plethora of instruments and arrangements in this concert!
They will be joined with the MSD Irish Dancers who will dazzle you with their fancy footwork for an evening of fun you won't want to miss!

Karen Wilson Bell will teach easy to learn dances back by the old time fiddle band River City Ramblers. Our community dance is fun and everyone is welcomed. No partners necessary. Friendly, accessible community dancing in the New England tradition, held every second Friday (except August). Live music, lively caller, all dances taught and called. No experience or partner needed; new dancers welcome and encouraged to arrive early for introductory session at 7. Please bring clean, smooth shoes, a water bottle, and your smile. $5 donation, $20 families.

The Spokane Folklore Society hosts its Second Saturday Contra Dance at the East Spokane Grange at 7PM with caller Nancy Staub teaching easy to learn dances with the band Reel Friends. Contra dances (think Virginia Reels) are fun and easy. It's a great way to get some excercise and meet new folks. Every dance is taught. The music is great. Join us. General Admission is $12. SFS Members are $10 Kids under 18 are free.

Spokane Folklore Society's 30th annual celebration of folk music and dance, from traditional American, to ethnic expressions. Six stages and over 100 performers provide a panorama of the various cultures represented in the Inland Northwest. Music and dance workshops, children's crafts, and unique vendors make this a truly enriching experience. Spontaneous jam sessions throughout the venue add to the festive atmosphere.
