Chatter makes their WWCMF debut with music by J.S. Bach, Benjamin Britten, Magnus Lindberg, and Paul Wiancko for violin, cello, and clarinet. Based in Santa Fe, Portland (OR), and New York City, the musicians of Chatter believe deeply in the power of chamber music to foster connection and create community. Each musician tends and curates a local series in their respective hometown. By linking these series, sharing ideas, and collaborating in performance, Chatter eschews viral meme-culture in favor of word of mouth. In fact, it is possible to have a national network just by talking to one another. And there is no place better than Walla Walla, a city that boasts perhaps the best word-of-mouth “grapevine” in the nation, to revel in the power of word of mouth.
Cellist Laura Metcalf is no stranger to WWCMF. This special performance outside the Festival’s traditional January and June Seasons marks Laura’s third time performing on the WWCMF stage. James Shields and Margot Schwartz join the Festival for the first time. WWCMF is delighted to return to the downtown locale of so many past January and June collaborations, House of Smith Wines. The prospect is so tantalizing that WWCMF Founder & Artistic Director Timothy Christie may just have to join Chatter for a cameo collaboration. (He will.)
Doors open at 6 PM.
All works will be announced from the stage.A setlist will be published here and on social media after the performance.
Artists: Laura Metcalf, cello; Margot Schwartz, violin; James Shields, clarinet
The Panhandle Symphony Orchestra is excited to perform their Fall Concert for the musical enjoyment of our great community. It will be held Tuesday, November 18, 7:00 pm at Lake City High School. Conductor, Tim Sandford has chosen some familiar pieces for our audience to enjoy, including songs from the well-known movie “Jurassic Park” which was released in 1993 and has won 3 Oscars as well as the BMI Film Music Award in 1994.
“Danse Macabre” by Camille Saint-Saens was written in 1874 and would go on to become his most famous tone poem. From the original art song for voice and piano, he expanded and reworked the piece into a symphonic poem, where a solo violin plays the vocal line.
Johann Strauss composed a very fun Polka called “Unter Donner und Blitz” which accompanies several Christmas themed songs that are in the performance, such as “Stille Nacht” which was recorded by Mannheim Steamroller and “Christmas at the Movies” which includes songs from The Polar Express and Miracle on 34th Street.
The orchestra will also be performing “Two Puccini Arias”, arranged by Chris Bernotas which includes “O Mio Babbino Caro” and “Nessun Dorma”, two of the composer’s most beloved arias. The orchestra members are proud to play this piece for the enjoyment of our audience.
Tuesday, November 18th, at 7:00 pm in the Lake City High School Auditorium, our organization’s volunteer community members will present this free concert for the enjoyment of the entire family. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

Sasha Barrett was born and raised in Sumy, Ukraine, where he spent half of his childhood. He has been a resident artist at various clay studios across the country, as well as completing his MFA from the University of Montana in 2025. He states, “This exhibition is a portrayal of the last three-plus years of war on the soil of my homeland. Whether through the tactile properties of clay sculpture, the direct information delivery of documentary film, or actual artifacts and objects from the war, I hope this presentation of artwork leaves you with compassion and a deeper understanding of what Ukraine is fighting for.”
Katie Frey is a Spokane artist who primarily paints landscapes and animals. She has been teaching and creating art in Spokane for over 15 years, painting with bright colors and expressive lines. The main subject matter is planned, but everything else is intuitive: abstract blocks of color, tangled plants, a landscape disintegrating into the abstract. Katie wants her art to be wild and invigorating; to look as spontaneous and joyful as it feels when she creates it.
In her own words, “My paintings explore storytelling through animals and their environment. I am continuously trying to expand, examine and capture my relationship to wildlife and their habitat; to create an open door for viewers to engage with the elements.”
Stop by the Liberty Gallery on First Friday Nov 7th from 5-8:30 to meet the artist and view Katie's beautiful paintings!
