The Spokane Folklore Society hosts its annual Swing Dance at the East Spokane Grange on June 13, Saturday, with Cathy Dark teaching an hour long swing workshop at 7PM followed by two hours of dancing. Family Hour Community Night Live Music w/ John Firshi
The Spokane Folklore Society hosts its Third Wednesday contra dance on June 17 at the Woman's Club Hall featuring Emily Faulkner teaching and calling easy to learn dances back by live music from the Jam Band. Appalachian Road Show is a visionary acoustic ensemble, bringing new-generation interpretations of traditional Americana, bluegrass, and folk songs, as well as offering innovative original music. Come see the award-winning talents of lead singer and banjoist Barry Abernathy, tenor singer and mandolinist extraordinaire Darrell Webb, Grammy-award winning fiddler and producer Jim Vancleve, and guitar phenom Zen Snyder, whose fierce and versatile playing recalls Doc Watson and Norman Blake as readily as it does Duane Allman and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
