This beloved community tradition brings the spirit of the gold rush era to life with a weekend packed full of family-friendly events, exciting competitions, and a healthy dose of western charm.
For eight decades, 49er Days has been a vibrant community tradition of Winthrop, drawing locals and visitors alike to commemorate the town's rich history and vibrant community spirit. Attendees can look forward to greeting the Washington Outfitters and Guides “Ride the Rendezvous” horses and wagons as they roll through town at high-noon on Friday, May 9th. On Saturday, May 10th at 11am, enjoy the ever-popular Grand Parade, showcasing colorful floats, equestrian groups, vintage vehicles, and local personalities.
Beyond the signature events, Winthrop 49er Days offers a diverse range of activities for all ages. Enjoy live music and dancing, browse unique artisan vendors, test your rodeo skills on the mechanical bull, and satisfy your appetite with delicious food from local eateries and food vendors. Kids will have a blast with dedicated children’s activities and games all weekend long. Saturday evening, dust off your dancing boots for the Winthrop 49er Days Barn Dance at 7pm with live music from Pack String & Friends.

Show Description:Three artists explore technology's impact. Sarah Barnett's oil paintings examine medical procedures and surveillance, questioning technological invasiveness. Joe Hedges merges traditional painting with new media devices, investigating physical-digital intersections. Reza Safavi's interactive installations probe human consciousness. The exhibition contemplates the fusion of technology and humanity, and its implications for our future. Visitors are invited to experience these works in dialogue with each other, creating a multi-layered meditation on how emerging technologies reshape our understanding of human identity and potential.

Come and check out Quiero Flamenco after just finishing their sold out show at the Myrtle Woldson Theatre, presented by KSPS-PBS in January. Quiero Flamenco loves returning to the intimate Tablao setting of Flamenco. They are honored to present an amazing lineup of guest artists in their next production, Tablao Flamenco at the beautiful Hamilton Studio.
The Spokane Folklore Society hosts its second Saturday contra dance on May 10 at the East Spokane Grange featuring caller Emily Faulkner and the band Banna Damhsa starting at 7PM. Emily will teach easy to learn dances and Banna Damhsa will play spirited jigs and reels. Newcomers are always welcomed. No partner is necessary. Come have fun in a safe welcoming environment. A potluck dessert too. General admission is $10; SFS members and students $7; kids under 18 are free.
Paper Flowers is a tribute band to Fleetwood Mac, and has enjoyed regional acclaim. Their first concert at the Cutter was a popular success and returning was a given. Tickets are already selling quickly; the house is only 155 seats. Tickets are $25.00 and can be paid by credit card. There is also a pre-concert dinner, reservations are required and cost $20.00. The show is May 10th at 7:00pm and dinner served at 6pm.
Comprised of some of the Inland Northwest’s finest and most diverse musicians, Son Dulce (which means Sweet Sound) shatters the standards of the Latin music scene in the Pacific Northwest with authentic and traditional hard-pounding salsa. Since early 2007, this 12-piece ensemble has headlined numerous regional festivals, galas and special events, delighting professional salsa dancers and music aficionados, as well as local musicians, with a fresh and powerful intensity. With each member complementing the next, Son Dulce is able to produce a rich, energetic sound, behind the sultry Spanish stylings of lead vocalist, Jennifer Vigil.

Step into the world of a Samurai and experience the armor, weaponry, and personal items that comprise "Samurai, Sunrise, Sunset." Dedicated to the powerful military class that ruled Japan for nearly 700 years, each item tells a story through its master craftsmanship and individual details. "Samurai, Sunrise, Sunset" is organized by Contemporanea Progetti, Italy in collaboration with the Museo Stibbert, Italy, in cooperation with the EDG, USA. The MAC is closed Mondays.
Through collage-like layers of detail, Washington-based artist Andrea Joyce Heimer reconstructs tangled memories of her upbringing in rural Montana. The artist combines autobiography, fantasy, and dark humor to explore themes of loneliness and belonging. *The MAC is closed Mondays.
